Unlock the Ultimate Travel Rewards: Get 75,000 Points with Citi Premier Signup Bonus
By Laila Kim -

Banks, Cards, & Investing

The blog post is about the Citi Premier Card and its current sign-up bonus of 75,000 ThankYou points after spending $4,000 in the first three months. The card has an annual fee of $95, which is not waived for the first year. It earns 3x points on restaurants (including takeout), supermarkets, gas stations, air travel, and hotels, and 1x on all other purchases.

Additionally, cardholders can get $100 off a single hotel stay of $500 or more (excluding taxes and fees) once per calendar year through thankyou.com. The post notes that this bonus is not as good as the 80,000 point bonus that was available earlier in the year and recommends that readers familiarize themselves with things to know about Citi credit cards before applying. A direct link to sign up for the card is provided.

Barclays is offering increased bonuses on Wyndham cards of up to 75,000 points. The two card options are the Earner Rewards and the Earner+ Rewards, with different point bonuses and annual fees. Both cards offer automatic Wyndham status, a discount on go free awards, and an anniversary bonus.

However, these bonuses are not as good as previous offers that were up to 90,000 points. While these cards could still be useful for many people, it is recommended to do some research on using the points before signing up. There is no direct link to the offer and requires a referral link, which can be found and shared on the website.

Aspiration’s Zero Credit Card: Get 1% Cashback and Plant a Tree with Every Purchase (Plus, $300 Signup Bonus) [Discontinued]

Banks, Cards, & Investing

Aspiration's Zero Credit Card was a unique offering in the market, allowing customers to earn 1% cashback on every purchase and plant a tree with each transaction. On top of these benefits, the card also offered a $300 signup bonus for new cardholders. Unfortunately, Aspiration has discontinued this credit card product.

While the Zero Credit Card is no longer available, it's important to note the impact that sustainable banking practices can have. Aspiration continues to offer other environmentally friendly banking options, such as their Spend & Save account that provides customers with the ability to track their carbon footprint and offset it through their deposits.

Overall, Aspiration's commitment to sustainability and social responsibility is commendable and worth considering when choosing a banking partner. While the Zero Credit Card may no longer be an option, there are still other ways to make a positive impact through your banking choices.

Walmart Takes Legal Action Against Capital One to Terminate Co-Branded Credit Card Partnership
By Santiago Rodriguez -

Banks, Cards, & Investing

Walmart has filed a lawsuit against its co-branded credit card partner, Capital One, to terminate their partnership. Walmart claims that Capital One failed to meet certain requirements of the partnership, including not replacing lost cards promptly and not posting and settling transactions promptly. Walmart previously expressed a desire to renegotiate some of the terms of the contract, including the loss sharing agreement, and wants its fintech arm, One Finance, to be involved in the issuing of the cards.

The Capital One/Walmart card was launched in 2019, and the contract is due to run until at least 2026, with provisions for the contract to be extended. Walmart previously sued Synchrony, who issued the Walmart card before Capital One, claiming that it was financially harmed due to Synchrony's underwriting standards.

Rocket Visa Signature Review: Earn 5X Back on All Purchases for Rocket Mortgage Rewards
By Jeremy C -
April 9, 2023 10:15 am
Banks, Cards, & Investing

The Rocket Visa Signature Card earns 5% back on all purchases towards a new mortgage closing and 2% back on all purchases toward an existing mortgage. However, there is a cap of $8,000 towards mortgage closing costs, which makes it less appealing as it locks you into using Rocket for your home loan. If there was no cap on the 5%, it would be worth considering.

Chase has announced that the Chase Starbucks card will be discontinued and existing cardholders will be transitioned to the Chase Freedom Unlimited card. This decision comes after Chase had paused applications for the card in June 2022. The original Chase Starbucks card was launched in 2018 but failed to gain much traction.

Cardholders have reported receiving a letter stating that the transition will take place on July 20, 2023. It remains to be seen if Starbucks will partner with another co-branded partner to issue a new card.
