Lufthansa Discrimination: Airline Fined for Antisemitism. In May 2022, Lufthansa barred 128 Jewish passengers from a Frankfurt to Budapest flight for alleged mask violations. This blatant antisemitism sparked outrage and a DOT investigation.
Now, Lufthansa faces penalties for religious discrimination. Learn more about this incident and the fight against antisemitism in air travel.
The Department of Transportation (DOT) is cracking down on airlines that keep passengers trapped on the tarmac for extended periods. Penalties for non-compliance have been increased, with a requirement for domestic flights to return to the gate after 3 hours and international flights after 4 hours. American Airlines has been hit with a record-breaking $2.05 million fine for failing to adhere to these regulations on 43 flights from 2018 to 2021.
They did, however, compensate passengers on these and other delayed flights, resulting in the waiving of an additional $2.05 million fine. Remember your rights and don't hesitate to request food, drinks, or a return to the gate when necessary. Stay informed and make the most of your travel experience!
