Despite the airline's initial refusal to comment or apologize, it was eventually forced to respond after the NAACP demanded action. In an internal memo, CEO Robert Isom acknowledged the incident as unacceptable and pledged to establish an advisory group to improve the travel experience for black customers.
The airline has since faced criticism for its handling of the situation and its history of discrimination against black passengers.
