Returning or exchanging items can sometimes be confusing. But no worries, we've simplified the GAP return policy for you!

1. Standard Returns & Exchanges

If your purchase isn't what you expected, you've got up to 30 days from the ship date to return items from Gap.

How to Return/Exchange:

  • Online? Use the prepaid return shipping label (it's free!).
  • In-store? Just bring your items to any GAP store.

2. Gift Returns & Exchanges

Received a gift that doesn't fit or not quite your style? No problem!

What You Can Do:

  • Exchange for another item.
  • Opt for a gift card that's usable at Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy, and Athleta.

Remember, returning a gift card? The value goes back to the original payment method.

3. Key Details to Note:

  • Items should be unwashed, unworn, and in their original state.
  • "Final Sale" items are, well, final. No returns or exchanges on these.
  • Got a damaged or defective item? You can return or exchange these anytime.
  • Returning online items in-store is okay unless they're marked "Mail Only."
  • Store items cannot be returned by mail.
  • You can't cross-return. Meaning, Gap items go back to Gap and not Old Navy or Athleta.
  • Holiday shopping? Items bought between Nov 1 and Dec 24 can be returned till Jan 15 the following year.

4. Refunds and Credits

  • Credit Card: Refund goes back to the card.
  • Gift Card: You'll get a new gift card or the same one credited.
  • Promos & Discounts: Exchange for the same style, different size/color. No transfer of discounts to a new style.
  • Rewards Points: These get converted back to points in your account.
  • PayPal/Apple Pay: Refunds are credited back to the respective account.

One Last Tip: Your credit card company might take an additional 10 days to reflect the refund. And if you used a mix of gift card and credit card, the refund splits accordingly.

5. Special Return Cases:

  • Swimwear: Must have original tags and hygiene liners.
  • Sunglasses: Can return within 30 days if they have original receipt, tags, and come with their complimentary case.
  • Masks: Unfortunately, they are final sale and can't be returned.
