Israel's Knesset has passed new bills to meet US requirements for the visa waiver program that would allow Israelis to visit the country for up to 90 days without a visa. Additionally, Israel has met the critical requirement of having a refusal rate for US tourist visas below 3%, opening the door for its entry into the program. Prime Minister Netanyahu is optimistic that Israel will be allowed to join by September, despite pushback from left-wing media in the country. One point of contention is the US requirement for every US citizen to be able to enter Israel and the West Bank. The COVID-19 pandemic has also put pressure on Israel to join the program this year, as applications have declined.
